Tony Matelli

Fucked (Couple), 2005

Polyester, silicone, polyurethane, wood, steel, oil paint, hair
213 × 400 × 400 cm

Matelli’s metaphorical sculptures reflect human’s states of uncertainty, loneliness and despair, often associated with attempts to find oneself and one’s place in the world. The “Fucked couple” sculpture is a visual personification of love and fortitude – where severely mutilated and disfigured man and woman are still holding the hands, resisting an absurd deadly accident.
