In ‘Pictures of Magazines’ series, Vik Muniz recreates ‘Nasturtiums’, 1980 by Henri Fantin-Latour by punching the holes from magazine pages.

Flowers often became the main subject of the works by Fantin-Latour. Balanced, restrained by the composition, they were distinguished by modest sophistication and aristocracy. This approach is characteristic of the new naturalism developed in French art in the second half of the 19th century, anticipating the Impressionists’ new experimentations.
