Hamburger Bahnhof presents the first comprehensive retrospective of the painter and sculptor Lee Ufan in Germany. The exhibition includes some of artist’s most significant pieces, including works from his iconic painting series – From Point, From Line and Dialogue, alongside the Relatum series, which explores the fluid relationship between natural materials like stone and earth and industrial materials like steel and canvas.

It also presents an extraordinary highlight: Rembrandt’s ‘Self-Portrait with Velvet Beret,’ 1634 from the Berlin Gemäldegalerie. Through the expansive installation ‘Relatum – The Mirror Road,’ 2016/2023 Lee, who repeatedly refers to European roots in his works, enters into a multi-layered dialogue with Rembrandt’s work, providing a new perspective on an icon of Western European art.
