The works by Vik Muniz Lengiz! (2007) and Pro Eto (2007) are appropriations of works by the Russian constructivist artist and photographer Alexander Rodchenko.

Lilia Brik (the woman in the photo) was known as "the muse of the Russian avant-garde" and a favorite model of many great photographers of the time. Rodchenko was introduced to her by the famous Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, who dedicated almost all of his love poetry to her, including his poem Pro Eto (About That). However, it was her participation in Rodchenko’s Lengiz advertising poster that made her widely recognizable.

Rodchenko recognized that photography, as a modern medium, would surpass painting in its ability to reflect contemporary artistic ideas and engage with the public. He adapted photography as a tool for promoting social issues, using bold compositions and innovative photomontage techniques. His revolutionary approach not only shaped the visual language of Soviet constructivism but also influenced generations of artists, including Muniz, who reconstructs these iconic images with a modern perspective.
