Flowers were a recurring subject in Fantin-Latour’s work. Characterized by balanced compositions and restrained elegance, his floral paintings conveyed a sense of refined sophistication and aristocratic grace. This approach aligned with the new naturalism emerging in French art during the late 19th century, foreshadowing the Impressionists’ bold explorations of light and color.
In this series, Muniz meticulously assembles torn fragments of magazines to reconstruct iconic images, dissolving the boundary between collage and photography. By using ephemeral printed media—symbols of mass consumption and information overload—he reflects on the construction of visual culture and the ways images are disseminated and perceived.
