“I’m extremely fascinated by the theories of evolution. I’ve read all of Darwin’s and Richard Dawkins’ books, among others. As an artist, I’m also drawn to religion because art is another form of faith.” — Wim Delvoye

Created for an exhibition at the Church of San Cristoforo in Lucca, Wim Delvoye’s Holy Family series explores the intersection of science and spirituality, blending organic, biomorphic shapes with geometric precision. His fascination with evolutionary theory and religious symbolism converge in these works, where traditional human forms are reinterpreted through advanced industrial techniques.

By combining meticulous craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, Delvoye transforms a familiar cultural symbol into a dynamic, ever-evolving structure. This fusion of natural and conceptual forms prompts reflection on the shifting role of such imagery in contemporary culture and how these traditions continue to adapt in a modern context.
