Inspired by the Catalan figure El Caganer, a recurring yet unconventional presence in regional Nativity scenes, the sculpture weaves together themes of fertility, renewal, and ritual. Silver Moon continues Ofili’s exploration of recurring motifs and materials, reinforcing his ability to merge the sacred and the sensual, the mystical and the everyday.
"It's what they symbolize that interests me. The sculptures are a dialogue—about relationships, about how people can be both intensely connected and entirely at ease with one another." – Chris Ofili
