Drawing inspiration from Ippolito Scarsella’s The Massacre of the Innocents, the work transforms the biblical narrative into a mesmerizing, yet harrowing, spectacle of movement and light. The zoetrope, composed of 300 intricately sculpted figures, spins at 60 revolutions per minute, while synchronized LED flashes at 18 times per second create the illusion of seamless motion—an eerie convergence of animation and sculpture. This optical illusion, where ethereal beauty collides with unrelenting brutality, has been hailed by critic Waldemar Januszczak as “nothing less than a contemporary masterpiece.”Exhibitions
