Evgeny Chubarov: Personal Exhibition
-
“Immerse yourself within your Self, and then you’ll understand what a personal way of life is, as well as the burden of time; the severity of our dubious era will leave you, and help you free your body and soul. Become artist in the most simple and natural way.”
– Evgeny Chubarov (1934–2012) -

Evgeny Chubarov—painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and recipient of the prestigious Jackson Pollock Foundation award—remains one of the most enigmatic figures in Russian art. Working in his own singular style alongside leading representatives of Soviet nonconformist art such as Ilya Kabakov, Andrey Monastyrsky, and Erik Bulatov, Chubarov captured the philosophical essence of a new era. His work transforms abstract symbols into contemplative images, channeling the energy of the surrounding world and embedding it in the language of conceptual art.
