Presented simultaneously at NCMA Winston-Salem and the main NCMA campus, the exhibitions — Dear Sonja and Picture Show —  bring together over 80 works, including photographs, drawings, and video. Through saturated imagery and theatrical compositions, LaChapelle reimagines cultural archetypes—from religious motifs to celebrity iconography—infusing them with personal symbolism and social critique. Rather than simply reflecting reality, his works destabilize it, creating a space where fantasy, memory, and identity converge.
