Helmar Lerski | Group Exhibition Projections Onto the East at Schinkel Pavillon

Works by Helmar Lerski are featured in Projections onto the East, a multipart exhibition, discourse, and publication project exploring how the “East” continues to be viewed and represented as a cultural, aesthetic, and political space.

Bringing together international artists, scholars, and writers, the project looks at the ideas and associations connected to the notions of “East” and “West”, as well as the historical and contemporary tensions between them. The exhibition addresses topics ranging from GDR memory and antisemitism to postsocialist transformations and current geopolitical tensions.

At its core, Projections onto the East explores how the division between “East” and “West” continues to shape our understanding of history, identity, and the present. The project is presented through two exhibitions at n.b.k. and Schinkel Pavillon in Berlin, alongside a publication and an extensive programme of talks and discussions.
