Вик Мюнис

Вик Мюниc (1961, Сан-Паулу, Бразилия). Живет и работает в Нью-Йорке, США.

Мюнис начал художественную карьеру как скульптор, но позднее сосредоточил свое внимание на графике и фотографии. Вдохновляясь творчеством постмодернистов Синди Шерман и Джеффа Кунса, Мюнис в своих работах использует популярные образы и представляет их в новом виде, демонстрируя тем самым одну из основных идей современного искусства – главенство концепта над уникальностью визуального контекста.

Экспериментируя с широким спектром нетрадиционных материалов (сухой пигмент, пыль, сахар, шоколад, алмазы, икра, детские игрушки, мусор, обрывки журналов), Мюниc воспроизводит из них работы известных художников, создавая недолговечные копии знаменитых произведений искусства. Запечатлев результат своей работы на снимках в высоком разрешении, Мюнис создает серии фоторабот, заново открывая зрителю шедевры Ван Гога, Пикассо, Малевича, Климта, Мондриана и Матисса.

Художник знакомит зрителя не только с феноменом апроприации в фотографии, но и с идеей использования новой техники в создании произведений искусства, поднимая вопрос о первичности идеи и способах ее выражения, а сам называет себя «наблюдателем перестрелки между структуралистской и постструктуралистской критикой».

Мюнис убежден, что искусство должно менять мир к лучшему и в своей основе не должно быть элитарным, и стремится сделать его более доступным: неожиданные приемы исполнения и продуманные до мелочей визуальные каламбуры вызывают интерес любого зрителя – от ценителей музейной классики до юной аудитории. Внешняя легкость подачи сложных образов превращает его работы в своеобразный проводник в мир нового искусства и технологий, неразрывно связанных с достижениями ранних мастеров и историей искусства в целом.
